5 Different Types of Mezzanine Gates to Consider

Mezzanine Gates

Mezzanine gates keep your employees safe from workplace dangers and increase the utility of your mezzanine.

A mezzanine is a great way to expand the workable area of your facility. Whether you need additional space for storing your products or a place for modular offices close to the warehouse floors, mezzanines can save you the hassle and cost of moving operations to a larger facility. As part of keeping your employees safe on the mezzanine floor, you’ll need to have mezzanine gates installed at various points. There are a number of different mezzanine gate designs to consider that can keep your processes flowing smoothly. Here are five of them.

1. Single Swing

Single swing mezzanine gates are very basic in terms of their utility and design, yet still valuable for many facilities. They swing from a single pivot in a single direction, close via a padlock hasp, and are available in 2-rail, 3-rail, or wire mesh models to accommodate your handrail selection.

2. Double Swing

Double swing mezzanine gates are simply two single swing gates put together. They swing in the same direction from two different hinge points and clasp close with a padlock hasp as well. Also available in 2-rail, 3-rail, and wire mesh models to match up with your handrails, these gates can help protect your employees from danger on your mezzanine.

3. Sliding Gate

Not every part of a mezzanine will have the space required for a swing gate. For these areas, a sliding gate is ideal. These mezzanine gates slide open and closed to provide mezzanine access in constricted areas.

4. Lift-Out Safety Gates

Need to load and unload products or materials onto your mezzanine? Lift-out safety gates are the best choice! These gates are completely removable to allow for unobstructed access to the mezzanine to load and unload material. Once you’re done, simply slide the gate back into its fittings to resume protection of your employees.

5. Safety Pivot Gates

Cogan offers a patent-pending safety pivot gate that is a great, safe option for busy loading zones. The gate opens on one side while staying closed on the other thanks to specially designed pivot arms. This helps protect employees from fall accidents and helps you promote a safer workplace.
