General Contracting Firm

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

Our client is a longstanding and reputable local general contracting firm and is an industry leader in providing professional preconstruction and construction management services for their clients.

CLIENT NEED

Our client was in the process of building a new facility for one of their clients and one of the requirements by the end user was that hydraulic dock levelers be provided.

SOLUTION

S. W. Betz identified an appropriate line of equipment to meet the client’s end user’s needs for their business operation. We then procured materials and handled installation, making sure to communicate with our client and other sub-contractors to ensure that the project would run smoothly.

 


Regional Food Distributor

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

Our client is a prominent regional food distributor that is located in the heart of Baltimore city. They focus on providing and distributing the highest quality meats, poultry, seafood and game to restaurants in Baltimore, Washington and the rest of the Mid-Atlantic region. They deliver custom cut meat and freshly ground beef on a daily basis.

CLIENT NEED

Due to rapid growth, our client needed extra storage space. They decided to build an addition onto their building to enlarge their freezer capacity. The client needed new racking to properly utilize the added space. Having a long and healthy relationship with the client, S. W. Betz was called on to identify the proper storage system for the new space.

SOLUTION

Randy Farnum, VP of Sales and Operations, worked with both the client and their builder to help identify the most efficient storage solution. The final layout created 108 bays of selective pallet rack for the client consisting of pallet rack frames and beams, wire mesh decks and post protectors. S. W. Betz both procured and installed all of the proper materials for the client. S. W. Betz prides itself on being a “turnkey” solution for their clients, as evidenced in this project. The client was extremely happy with both the end result of the project as well as the overall process and has worked with S. W. Betz on two more similar projects.

 


Loyola Univerity

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

Loyola University Maryland, a co-educational Jesuit, Catholic University located in Baltimore, MD.

CLIENT NEED

The Event Services Department needed to economically and efficiently expand their office and storage space for their growing staff and increasing services.

SOLUTION

The client called on the S. W. Betz Company, a full line material handling distributor, to survey the area and come up with a solution. After several visits to the client, it was determined that a structural mezzanine was the solution to Loyola’s problem. There was a storage area across the hall from an existing mezzanine. With the help of Steele Solutions, the S. W. Betz Company designed a mezzanine that would expand the existing structure and not interfere with an overhead door or its motor. Event Services now has room to store their equipment under the new mezzanine while utilizing the upper portion for desks and shelving that will be used by their staff.

 


Omnichannel Retailer

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

Our client is a premier omnichannel retailer operating over 800 locations in 45 states whose history dates back to 1830. Their corporate philosophy recognizes that the customer is paramount to their success and that all actions and strategies must be directed toward serving their needs.

CLIENT NEED

Receiving and processing new inventory is paramount to their successful operation. Due to age and a poor design the client’s loading dock materials were no longer effectively serving this need. The dock seal components were either missing or not performing as originally designed. The client also received inventory in multiple types of transportation vehicles that was causing problems with transitioning from the truck to the dock. The client contacted the S. W. Betz Company for assistance in resolving these issues.

SOLUTION

Upon several on-site assessments of the client’s location it was determined that a number of variables were causing the issues being experienced. Various types of delivery vehicles as well as the grade associated with the location of the loading docks required a specialized solution. After consultation with our dock specialist resources the S. W. Betz Company designed a customized Edge-Of-Dock and Dock Seal solution to accommodate the various needs our client had in receipting and processing inventory deliveries. Our successful end-to-end project management services delivered to the client the best solution for their unique need, acquired the necessary materials to implement the solution and managed the resulting installation, all coordinated with the client’s ongoing operations.
