Put Your Best Foot Forward with the Right Mezzanine Decking

Mezzanine Decking

Mezzanine decking can be customized according to your unique needs.

One of the many customization options available for a new mezzanine system is the decking, which is a term we use to refer to the floor of the mezzanine level. If your first instinct is to say that the mezzanine decking isn’t really important, this is a mistake. The right mezzanine decking can make a world of difference in the application, utility, and cost of your system. Here are some of the options available for your new mezzanine decking.

Basic Corrugated Steel

The most common type of mezzanine decking is corrugated steel, usually of the 20-gauge variety. This steel is generally finished with a secondary material to provide additional strength. It’s a great all-purpose solution for many different kinds of industries.

ResinDek

ResinDek, offered by Cogan, is another good option for mezzanines expected to handle a lot of traffic. It is available in many different load capacity levels – from 2,000 pounds all the way to 8,000 pounds – and come with a ten-year manufacturer’s warranty on the product.

Bar Grating

Bar grating is another type of mezzanine decking familiar to most in the warehousing business. It features an open design that allows light and air to pass through easily and is rock-solid in terms of strength and longevity. However, this decking is not a good option for processes that involve small parts – these could fall through the cracks of the bar grating and create more problems.

Concrete

Concrete decking offers a number of advantages other materials can’t. It’s incredibly durable and can stand up to repeated heavy cleaning sessions. It is also good for applications where noise is a considerable factor. The one drawback to concrete is that it is a permanent solution. It is more difficult to reconfigure your mezzanine once the concrete has been poured. For those who anticipate no changes in the future of their facilities, however, concrete decking is a great option.
